Kevin’s story
During his final year of training, Kevin is doing an end-of-studies placement with a freelancer. His main task was to maintain websites, mainly using PHP. After graduating, he landed his first permanent contract thanks to his tutor. Kevin then began his career at Touslesprix.com as a web developer, where he stayed for ten years.
For the first 7 years, Kevin devoted himself to web development, working with Python scripts, MySQL queries and even contributing to the creation of a search engine with its associated configuration. As search engines evolved, Kevin made the transition to mobile development. For 3 years, he was in charge of designing and developing a multilingual Android application – INCI Beauty (analysis of cosmetic products) – offering various features such as in-app purchases, the ability to add comments, price scraping and even machine learning functions. This transition was made possible by his deepening technical skills and natural curiosity.
The period marked by COVID-19 encouraged Kevin to take a step back from his professional situation. Convinced that he had explored all the facets of his job, Kevin decided to explore new opportunities and met our HR manager in Clermont-Ferrand.
Why did he choose Apside?
« At the Clermont-Ferrand agency, I know everyone; Apside is an IT services company that values its employees and has a great atmosphere! The teams are attentive, and the projects are interesting.»
Kevin’s missions
Since joining our group, Kevin has participated in various projects for our clients. To date, he has contributed to four assignments as a mobile developer. His first mission involved resolving requests using a ticketing system for a mutual insurance application. Later, he collaborated with our client, a global leader in automotive parts, on a project involving an application developed with Ionic. In the same field, Kevin is designing an application in Kotlin for healthcare professionals, with the support of the Apside Dijon teams.
Currently, Kevin is once again assigned to our client in the automotive sector for a new project (POC – Proof of Concept) developed in Flutter. In this project, Kevin leverages all his technical skills to design an application from scratch: creating interfaces, designing the architecture, and developing an RFID Bluetooth device, among other tasks. This application aims to optimize tire inventory management to facilitate reception by drivers. To achieve this, Kevin uses a variety of technologies, including Dart, Mongo, and Realm Sync, ensuring user data synchronization even in offline mode.
As the sole contributor to this project, Kevin established a roadmap at its inception. However, he remains in communication with the client’s teams, including a DevOps engineer for CI/CD management and a tech lead to oversee the POC.
Beyond his involvement with clients, Kevin shares his knowledge within the group. Thanks to his technical expertise, he leads Apside’s mobile community. Within this community, he conducts bi-monthly sessions exploring a variety of topics, such as local market benchmarking, best practices, and feedback on mobile projects. Locally, he contributes to his agency’s cross-functional meetings by organizing technical presentations as well as overseeing the progress of internships and apprenticeships.
